Prospective Shack competition is on
Speaking of the "nauseating town house" problem, the American Organization of Architects Seattle is taking a strong addictive look at the new model for city living with Unborn Shack: Housing the 21st Century.
On Sept. 13, in a party of urban living done well, 10 projects will be recognized for container design that not only meets our needs but elevates our luxury of living. Those projects will also be featured in the Sept. 13 Pacific Northwest arsenal.
The jury is looking at projects that present oneself solutions for families, incorporate Seattle's great fabric, offer new models of development and delivery, use resources economically and are compliant. Only projects completed after June 2004 are available.
The public is welcome to the event, opening at 5 p.m. at the Fisher Pavilion in the Seattle Center. It includes a dialogue by the jury, made up of three outspoken Seattle citizens and four architecture/draft professionals. Steve Scher, publican of KUOW-FM's "Weekday," will moderate.
